The Freedom Socialist Party stands in solidarity with the CUNY Grade Strike, led by Rank and File Action ( RAFA).
The action is a battle cry against the wave of austerity cuts and privatization being forced upon workers during the COVID crisis.
The preemptive layoffs of faculty directly attack the human right to higher education, which is a lifeline for working class and communities of color. Cuomo and legislators are balancing the budget on working people’s backs instead of taxing the massive profits of corporations and the rich.
The future of the world's working class will be determined by fights like these. Rank and file union action is an irreplaceable shield and sword against the drive to starve public education and privatize every inch of society.
Higher education workers and the service they provide to the minds and spirits of our city are essential. We must defend them.
